Recovery & side effects
Any type of cosmetic surgery comes with side effects. The side effects that come with rhinoplasty typically include –
- Some temporary pain (pain medication is prescribed)
- Swelling around the nose and eyes for the first 7-10 days
It will take a while to fully recover from rhinoplasty and it’s recommended that you take the first few weeks off work as well as avoiding any strenuous exercise or activities that could result in your nose being bumped.
Your surgeon will check on your progress throughout the recovery period to ensure that everything is healing as it should be. You will be required to wear a cast on your nose for the first week or so after surgery to protect your nose.
Choosing a good surgeon
- Qualifications & training –
Qualifications and training are very important when choosing a surgeon. You should be able to easily find out what qualifications and training a surgeon has by visiting their website or calling their surgery. - Experience –
Experience is another key factor when choosing a surgeon to perform rhinoplasty. Find out how long the surgeon has been performing rhinoplasty and ask to see the before and after pictures of patients they’ve worked on. - Manner –
Although things like training, qualifications and experience are all important, you also want to be comfortable talking to a surgeon. The best way to judge this is at the consultation.
